My life has been, and continues to be, so much fun!
I'm a Mom and a Nana.
I'm married to my best friend.
Thanks to my membership in SCBWI, I've met many amazing writers and illustrators and the opportunity to learn from them is a priceless gift. It's wonderful to be part of such a caring and giving creative community. Anyone who asks me how to write a children's book and get it published gets one valuable piece of advice from me every time: Join SCBWI!
I've worked as a stay-at-home mom, then a janitor, an activities director, a newspaper reporter, a Chamber of Commerce membership director, and an executive assistant/fiscal court clerk for county government. Every job I've ever had has been perfect for me at that time in my life, and I've learned so much from those who kindly mentored and supported me. Today, I'm grateful to have one more job that I love -I'm the Director of Regional Team Management for SCBWI! I am so thankful to be able to work for an organization that has had such a positive impact on my life.
I've published four novels for young readers and hope to publish more someday.
My essays have aired on public radio and appeared in Writer's Digest and The Writer. I've also published articles in regional magazines.
I love books and libraries and good stories of all kinds. I love learning and discovering new ideas that stretch my brain and help me see the world through different perspectives.
I'm a fan of Mr. Rogers, Jim Henson, and Weird Al Yankovic.
What makes me laugh: groan-worthy puns, cat memes, and cat videos (basically anything to do with cats makes me happy). I love the Mutts comic strip, Jimmy Fallon, silly old TV comedies like Gilligan's Island and The Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres, and hugs.
What makes me happy: my family.
